Terms & Conditions

1. Agreement

These Terms & Conditions form the entire agreement between you (“the Customer”) and About Stones (“we”, “us”, “our”) for the sale and supply of stone products, including slabs and related goods (“Goods”).

By placing an order (via quote, invoice, website, or in person), you agree to be legally bound by these Terms.

No variation to these Terms shall be valid unless agreed in writing and signed by both parties.

For the purposes of delivery, handling, inspection, and acceptance of goods, the term “Customer” shall also include any third party acting on the Customer’s behalf, including but not limited to fabricators, installers, contractors, or agents nominated by the Customer.

The Customer is fully responsible for any such third party, and any actions taken by them (including acceptance of delivery and inspection of goods) shall be deemed to be actions of the Customer.

2. Nature of Stone Products

2.1 All natural stone products are subject to variation in colour, veining, texture, porosity, and finish. No two pieces are identical.

2.2 Samples, photographs, and showroom displays are for guidance only and are not a guarantee of the final product.

2.3 Natural features such as pits, fissures, shading differences, and surface irregularities are inherent characteristics of stone and do not constitute defects.

3. Orders & Specifications

3.1 Orders are binding once confirmed and/or payment has been received.

3.2 It is the Customer’s responsibility to:

Check all order details, quantities, and measurements
Ensure the material is suitable for the intended use
Provide accurate delivery and access information

3.3 Stone requires cutting during installation, which creates wastage. We strongly recommend ordering an additional 10–15% extra material to allow for cutting, breakage, and natural imperfections.

If insufficient material is ordered, additional batches may differ in colour or pattern. We are not responsible for any shortfall.

3.4 We accept no liability for incorrect measurements or quantities provided by the Customer.

3.5 Custom, fabricated, pre-order, or special-order items:

Must be paid in full before processing
Are non-cancellable and non-refundable once production has started

4. Pricing & Payment

4.1 Prices are as stated on quotations or invoices and are subject to VAT.

4.2 Full payment must be received before dispatch unless agreed otherwise in writing.

4.3 We reserve the right to adjust pricing prior to dispatch due to supplier cost increases, exchange rate changes, or transport costs.

4.4 Ownership of the goods remains with About Stones until full payment has been received in cleared funds.

5. Delivery & Risk

5.1 Delivery

Deliveries are made via third-party transport companies and are kerbside only.

This means goods will be delivered to the nearest accessible point at the delivery address, typically a fabricator’s premises, warehouse, or site entrance, and will not be moved inside buildings or positioned internally.

The customer and/or their appointed fabricator or contractor is responsible for ensuring:

Suitable access for delivery vehicles (including large or articulated lorries where required)
Appropriate equipment and labour to safely unload and handle the slabs

We accept no responsibility for unloading, handling, or movement of goods beyond the delivery point.

5.2 Responsibility for the goods transfers to the customer once delivery has been completed or the goods have been collected.

This means that from that point onwards, the Customer is fully responsible for any damage, loss, or handling of the goods.

5.3 The Customer must ensure:

Suitable access for delivery vehicles (including large lorries where applicable)
A responsible person is present to receive and sign for the delivery

5.4 Delivery dates are estimates only and are not guaranteed. We are not liable for delays caused by third-party carriers or circumstances beyond our control.

5.5 If delivery fails due to access issues or inability to accept delivery, additional charges may apply.

5.6 Where crane (HIAB) delivery is required, this must be arranged in advance. The Customer is responsible for ensuring safe unloading conditions.

5.7 Once delivered, goods must be stored safely and protected from weather, damage, or theft. We are not liable for damage after delivery.

6. Inspection & Claims

6.1 All goods must be inspected at the time of delivery.

By signing the delivery note (Proof of Delivery), the Customer confirms that the goods have been received in acceptable condition.

We cannot accept any liability for damage, shortages, or issues once delivery has been accepted and signed for without being noted.

6.2 Any visible damage must be clearly recorded on the delivery note at the time of delivery.

6.3 Any concealed damage or issues must be reported in writing within 48 hours of delivery, supported by photographic evidence.

6.4 Claims will not be accepted if the goods have been installed, cut, or modified.

6.5 Our liability is limited to replacement, repair, or refund at our discretion.

7. Slab Selection

7.1 Customers are strongly advised to inspect slabs in person prior to purchase.

7.2 If slabs are not viewed, the Customer accepts full responsibility for variations in colour, pattern, and appearance.

7.3 Once slabs have been delivered or collected, no returns or rejections will be accepted based on appearance.

7.4 We do not guarantee shade or pattern matching between different batches or future orders.

8. Storage & Handling

8.1 Goods must be stored indoors or adequately protected from weather conditions.

8.2 The Customer is responsible for proper storage and handling after delivery.

8.3 We are not liable for damage caused by improper storage, handling, environmental exposure, or theft.

9. Installation & Advice Disclaimer

9.1 Any advice, recommendations, or guidance provided by our team (whether in person, by phone, email, or online) is offered in good faith for general guidance only.

As we do not carry out site inspections or assess your specific project conditions, all decisions made based on this advice are entirely at the Customer’s own risk and responsibility.

This includes, but is not limited to:

Choice of material
Suitability for indoor or outdoor use
Installation methods
Substrates and surfaces
Adhesives, sealers, and fixing products
Structural or load-bearing applications

We strongly recommend consulting a qualified installer or professional before proceeding.

9.2 We accept no liability for installation methods, materials used, or workmanship.

10. Cancellations & Returns

10.1 Orders may only be cancelled if:

The goods have not been dispatched
The goods are standard stock items
Cancellation is confirmed in writing

10.2 The following items are non-cancellable and non-refundable:

Slabs
Pre-orders
Custom or fabricated products
Any goods made specifically for the Customer

10.3 Returns are only accepted if agreed in writing.

10.4 Approved returns must:

Be unused and in original condition
Be returned at the Customer’s cost

10.5 All approved returns are subject to a minimum 35% restocking and handling fee.

10.6 No returns or refunds will be accepted for goods that have been installed, cut, or used.

11. Third-Party Handling (Fabricators & Installers)

If goods are delivered to or collected by a third-party fabricator, installer, or contractor, responsibility for the goods transfers immediately to the Customer and/or their appointed party.

12. Suitability of Goods

We do not guarantee that any product is suitable for a specific purpose, environment, or application unless confirmed in writing.

13. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, About Stones shall not be liable for:

Indirect or consequential losses
Loss of profit, business, or opportunity
Third-party costs, including installation

Our total liability shall not exceed the value of the goods supplied.

14. Force Majeure

We are not liable for delays or failure to perform due to events beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to supply chain disruptions, transport delays, natural events, or government restrictions.

15. Website Content

All content on our website, including images, text, and branding, is the property of About Stones and may not be reproduced without written permission.

We are not responsible for the content of external websites linked from our site.
